In the early 19th century, most scientists believed that the Earth was just 6,000 years old and there was no such thing as prehistory. Then a handful of intrepid fossil hunters began to realize that the world was many millions of years old and had once been ruled by giant reptiles.
The Dinosaur Wars tells the stories of these first palaeontologists, their struggle to convince the world of the existence of dinosaurs, and the battles for supremacy they fought amongst themselves.
Part 1 begins in England, following the bitter rivalry between Gideon Mantell and Sir Richard Owen as they gain their place in history. Part 2 moves to America, where two rival scientists fight each other and the American Indian tribes over the biggest fossil finds ever discovered.
Along the way, they identify an amazing 140 new species of dinosaur.
