ZDF Enterprises to launch sales of National Geographic Channel’s “Rocket City Rednecks” (20 x 30’) at MIPCOM

Entertaining mix of high-level science and fun with technology

Mainz, 10th September 2012.

ZDF Enterprises announces the international launch of the new factual series “Rocket City Rednecks” (20 x 30’ or 10 x 60’).

Originally produced for and already a hit on the National Geographic Channel in the U.S., the new factual series will be presented to media buyers from around the world at this year’s TV industry trade fair MIPCOM in Cannes from 8 to 11 October. ZDF Enterprises will handle the international sales of the series.

“Rocket City” is what Huntsville, Alabama, is called, and it’s the home of the “Rocket City Rednecks” – a group of real-life redneck geniuses who apply backwoods know-how to big questions in science, technology and engineering – and have fun doing it. Be it asteroid defense tools, moon vehicles or bomb-proof pickup trucks – there is no limit to their imagination.

Besides being typical Deep South, Huntsville is also the home of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, where NASA began in the 1950s. When NASA, the Department of Defense, or private industry needs someone to solve a big scientific problem, Travis Taylor is their man.

The ringleader of the Rocket City Rednecks, Travis Taylor has a PhD in engineering and Top Secret clearance with the U.S. government. Joining him are friends and family members like Rog, who has a genius IQ of 160; Pete, an optical scientist who designs satellites at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center; and Travis’ dad Charles, one of NASA’s original engineers.
