ZDF Enterprises takes on international distribution of SLR PRODUCTIONS’ Adventure Comedy Series “THE SKINNER BOYS”

Sydney, Australia/ Mainz, Germany, 8th October 2012

ZDF Enterprises announce today that they will be responsible for the international distribution of  the animated series ‘The Skinner Boys’.

Emmy Award winning SLR Productions had just announced the series has been green-lit for production with broadcaster partners, Nine Network Australia and SRTL along with co-producers Telegael and Top Draw and in association with Homeplate.

The 26 x 30 minute animated adventure is based on an original creation by Australian artist Steve Lyons and brings together the creative talents of Melanie Alexander as Script Producer with Jo Boag as Creative Director and first time Animation Director for SLR Productions, Pablo de la Torre.  The series is expected to be completed by 2014.

Executive Producer and CEO of SLR Productions, Suzanne Ryan said “I am thrilled to be working with the Nine Network Australia and SRTL on this dynamic animated series in conjunction with co-production partners Telegael and Top Draw.  We have top line partners joining us for ‘The Skinner Boys’ including Homeplate which will undoubtedly ensure the success of the series internationally as well as its relevance to the demographic.  Based on an original Australian creation by artist Steve Lyons, ‘The Skinner Boys’ has a great balance of artistic talent from across the globe and will bring what we feel is strong and universal appeal.”

The story: World explorer Augustus Skinner has died!  Now, his three young teen grandsons have inherited the big, old Skinner mansion and its contents.  But Grandfather Skinner also left them a big surprise - the Skinner Boys are now Guardians of the Lost Secrets... a collection of unique artefacts across the world that possess incredible powers.

An even bigger surprise is in store!  Grandpa Skinner also appointed a fourth Guardian, their feisty teenage cousin Tara.  And as these boys know almost nothing about girls – she’s probably their biggest challenge of all and vice-versa.

As the anonymous Guardians of these artefacts, Tara and the boys must dedicate their lives to protecting them against the forces of evil that would corrupt their powers and endanger the planet. In the wrong hands, the Rixa Ruby, which has the power to create great conflict or harmony, could give its owner the power to start wars.  Or the Seven Stones of Wahaka, which if played in the right order could hypnotise the whole world via computers.  This is the legacy of Grandpa Skinner.

But these unsuspecting kids have a secret weapon – their youth.  Nobody would ever guess that four goof-ball teens would be capable of outsmarting the powerfully evil Shadow League and protecting the world. It’s like handing the keys to the world to an erratic teenager.  Times four!
