ZDF Enterprises takes a wealth of highlights to MIPCOM 2004

Emphasis on programs for children and young people

Mainz / Germany, 14th September 2004

ZDF Enterprises will be taking a wealth of program highlights to the forthcoming MIPCOM Junior and MIPCOM in Cannes.
Alexander Coridass, President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises: “For MIPCOM 2004 we are mainly concentrating on programs for children and young people, and we are confident that our clients will be very impressed by our new, top-quality productions. Perhaps the star of our collection is the young people’s series SCOOTER: SECRET AGENT, another coproduction in association with our Australian partner Jonathan M. Shiff – recently we had great success marketing WICKED SCIENCE together. SCOOTER is an fast-paced, espionage-laden series for young viewers, 26 x 26 minute episodes with breathtaking stunts and stunning special effects: an appealing, gripping and witty spy series for the whole family!” Other new children’s programs now available include the enchanting pre-school series DRAGON - MY FUNNY FRIEND, a lavish stop-motion animation production based on the bestselling DRAGON TALES by successful author Dav Pilkey, the animation series TOUPOU (26x26’), the story of a Tarzan-type girl who lives in New York’s Central Park by the producers of LUCKY LUKE and OGGY AND THE COCKROACHES, and, as a pre-sale, the animated 26 x 11' pre-school series RUDI AND TRUDI, based on the famous ZDF raven Rudi and his friend, a cat called Trudi.

However, ZDF Enterprises also has exciting new features in all other program genres: The TV movie THE QUIET DEATH OF SLEEPING BEAUTY is a gripping psycho-thriller with supermodel Nadja Auermann in her first TV role; forensic medical expert Dr. Kolmaar appears as the last witness of the deceased in the 53rd episode of the detective series THE FINAL WITNESS, and the documentary series THE WAR OF THE CENTURY (20x50') from the workshop of Prof. Guido Knopp presents eye-witnesses from all the countries involved in World War II describing the conflict from their viewpoint.

The most significant coproduction projects include the brand new mini-series MIDSUMMER MURDERS, thrilling detective stories to the highest possible standard from Henning Mankell’s new work, and the 3rd series of the successful documentary MISSION X: four episodes that illuminate the background to the most important inventions in all time.

On the wish list of ZDF Enterprises program buyers for Cannes are mainly high-quality nature and wildlife documentary films for an afternoon slot on ZDF.

Analogous to the Sales Department, the Merchandising and New Media Departments will also focus on children’s programming at MIPCOM. They are available to discuss licensing opportunities for the children’s series SCOOTER: SECRET AGENT, RUDI AND TRUDI, DRAGON, BASIL BRUSH and WICKED SCIENCE.
