ZDF Enterprises sells hit format “Wanna Bet?” to U.S. producer THE GURIN COMPANY
New Daily Format to be launched globally at NATPE and Real Screen

ZDF Enterprises and THE GURIN COMPANY are proud to continue their collaboration on “Wanna Bet?”. THE GURIN COMPANY will adapt the format rights of the show to the needs of the U.S. market and develop a half-hour format for a tentatively planned daily time slot; he will also produce episodes on the basis of the revised format in the U.S., and market the produced episodes internationally, with the exception of the German-speaking territories. Sylvia Brucker, VP ZDFE.entertainment, is responsible for format sales at ZDF Enterprises, and will be marketing the new format developed by Phil Gurin around the world, along with the original show format and – outside the U.S. – the one-hour format already developed for the U.S. market several years ago.
The new half-hour format, jointly developed by Phil Gurin and ZDF’s show department headed by Oliver Fuchs, will also be based on the underlying idea of having perfectly normal people make bold bets about incredible feats they think they can pull off. Every half-hour episode will consist of five different bets, four of which are inserts from the extensive “Wanna Bet?” archive, along with user-generated submissions; and one live bet which takes place in the studio. Four candidates get a certain amount of money for their wager; the winner is the one who places the right bet the most often and who, at the end of all the betting, takes in the most money, which he or she can then keep.
