ZDF Enterprises sells “Carthage’s Lost Warriors” to WNET/Thirteen, Australia’s SBS and S4C

ZDFE.factual is out to conquer the “New World!” It may sound wild, but a major new one-hour documentary special may very well prove that the “New World” was settled by Mediterranean seafarers over 2000 years ago. This hypothesis goes back to the Roman attacks on Carthage around 150 BC, when some survivors, instead of facing a fate as Roman slaves, might have crossed the Atlantic Ocean and set foot in South America.

“Carthage’s Lost Warriors” by author Michael Gregor is produced by the ZDF Enterprises subsidiary doc.station GmbH (Jasmin Gravenhorst) in association with  ZDF/Arte (commissioning editor: Peter Allenbacher) with presales to S4C Wales, SBS Australia  and WNET/Thirteen for the prominent PBS strand “Secrets of the Dead” from Executive Producer Steve Burns.

“Carthage’s Lost Warriors” is a gripping scientific detective story that will have far-reaching relevance. Will the history of the Americas have to be rewritten? One of the sensational finds can be attributed to molecular geneticist Professor Manfred Kayser of Rotterdam. Using the newest technology in genetic research, he and his team have discovered clues that the surprisingly light-haired and fair-skinned people found in remote Indian villages in the deepest Andes may be direct descendants of Celtic warriors, dating back some 2000 years.
