ZDF Enterprises scores a hit at MIPTV 2005 with fictional programs
Crime series and romantic TV movies are the bestselling individual programs

ZDF Enterprises is extremely satisfied with its performance at MIPTV 2005, the television trade fair that has just ended, announces the ZDF sales and distribution subsidiary today.
In the area of program sales it was possible to conclude agreements with a large number of international partners, with 94 % of revenue resulting from the sale of fictional programs. In this genre the bestselling individual programs were the detective series Siska and The Investigator as well as TV films from the Bella Block, Rosa Roth, Dream Ship, Inga Lindstroem and Rosamunde Pilcher collections. The most extensive sales contracts were drawn up with the broadcasters M6 (France), YLE (Finland), Mediaset (Italy), RTBF (Belgium) and the Czech broadcasters TV Nova and Prima. In the documentary sector, sales agreements were concluded with (Italy), Slovak TV (Slovakia), Voyage (France), Planeta (Spain), VRT (Netherlands), RTL Klub (Hungary) and Schlessinger (USA). It also proved possible to find buyers from a number of territories, including the Netherlands, Norway and Croatia, for ZDF children’s programs.
It emerged from MIPTV 2005 that ZDF programs are particularly popular in French-speaking areas. 46 % of the sales revenue was secured from French-speaking territories worldwide, followed by Central and Eastern Europe with 25 % and Italian-speaking countries with 11 %.
In terms of program purchase, negotiations were held with a whole range of national and international partners with a view to acquiring programs for the ZDF main channel and the ZDF subsidiary channels in the genres of fiction, children’s programs and fiction. The relevant agreements will be concluded in the weeks to come.
There was also great interest from potential coproduction partners; in terms of documentary coproduction, the major projects The Longest Night, Update 2056 and Welcome to China attracted considerable attention from international partners. Moreover, there was enthusiasm for coproduction projects involving programs for children and young people, including the new animation series Shaolin Wuzang and, in particular, the TV movie special and second series of the successful live action series Wicked Science.
