ZDF Enterprises Sales Team brings top new fiction, documentaries and children's programs to MIPCOM

Distributor confronts economic crisis with "Passion for Excellence"

At this fall's MIPCOM, the trade fair for the TV and media industry to be held in Cannes from 5 to 9 October, ZDF Enterprises has chosen as its motto "Passion for Excellence" - a passion that lights up the distributor's slate of high-quality programs for children, gripping fiction and up-to-the-minute documentaries.

Topping the fall line-up is THE JUNGLE BOOK (52 x 11' + 1 x 60' HD), a brand-new 3D HD animated series based Rudyard Kipling's universal classic of the same name. That the series is more faithful to the Kipling stories than other adaptations should come as no surprise, considering that it's produced by DQ Entertainment of India, the land where THE JUNGLE BOOK is set! Coproducers are ZDF, ZDF Enterprises, TF1, NBC Universal and others. Based on the books by award-winning illustrator David Wojtowycz, FUN WITH CLAUDE (52 x 10') revolves around a little polar bear who moves to a warmer region with his family and must adapt to a new life. This preschooler series is produced by Red and Blue Productions and Dot to Dot for ZDF, ZDF Enterprises and the Disney Channel UK. The brand-new animated series MARSUPILAMI (52 x 26') shows kids that it's cool to be aware of the environment and to live in harmony with nature. With the famous comic-book character at its center, the series spells fun for everyone! Produced by Samka Productions and Marsu Productions in coproduction with France 3 and in cooperation with ZDF and ZDF Enterprises. Teens are impatiently awaiting the third season of H2O - JUST ADD WATER (78 x 26' - 26 x 26' HD new episodes), the Jonathan M. Shiff and ZDF Enterprises coproduction that's a hit in more than 150 countries and has triggered a mermaid boom around the world.

Drama highlights include KRUPP – A FAMILY BETWEEN WAR AND PEACE (3 x 90' / 2 x 90'), a fictional retelling of the years of glory and downfall of one of Germany's wealthiest families, produced by MOOVIE – the art of entertainment for ZDF. Big-time suspense is guaranteed by THE PROTECTORS (10 x 60'), a Danish crime series about Copenhagen police bodyguards who put their lives on the line every day to protect often shady VIPs. Produced by DR-TV, it is the brainchild of the creators of the International Emmy-Award winning series "The Eagle." A different slice of Scandinavian life is afforded by MARIA (12 x 52'), a Norwegian feel-good series centering upon a young psychologist who returns to her native island and discovers a place badly in need of therapy.

The ZDF Enterprises line-up would not be complete without several major documentaries. Particularly opulent is the story of one of the most devastating battles of ancient times, THE BATTLE AGAINST ROME (2 x 52' HD). Produced by Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion, the thriller-style program gathers circumstantial evidence to answer questions that are still controversial to this day. NATASCHA KAMPUSCH (1 x 43' / 1 x 52' HD) retraces the fate of the young Austrian woman who was kept prisoner in her kidnapper's house for eight years. Produced by Securitel for NDR, Five TV and ZDF Enterprises. In 1755: THE LISBON EARTHQUAKE (1 x 52'), we explore the first mega-catastrophe of modern times. Leading scientists draw parallels between the devastating earthquake and the natural disasters of our time.

Defying the economic downturn and the resulting decline in advertising revenue, ZDF Enterprises continues to produce programs of impressive quality.
