ZDF Enterprises reports numerous broadcast deals for animated series “School of Roars”
Broadcast deal with Australian ABC is latest addition to impressive sales list
Mainz, April 9th, 2019
ZDF Enterprises has added Australian ABC to the already impressive list of broadcast deals for the popular Dot To Dot Productions’ 2D-animated preschool hit series "School of Roars".
Besides Australia, Portugal (RTP), Sweden (SVT), YLE (Finland), Ireland (TG4), Estonia (ERR), Hong Kong (Television Broadcast), China (UYoung), United Arab Emirates (E-Vision), Czech Republic (Ceská Televize) and the Italian Rai Yoyo and DeAJunior are already broadcasting the popular series, which is also available on KiKA in the German speaking territories. Earlier broadcast partners acquired by Dot To Dot include CBeebies (UK) and Universal Kids (US).
From creator Alan Robinson and executive producers Jo Killingley (Dot To Dot Productions) and Sarah Legg (CBeebies), the 52 x 7-minute series helps children prepare for school life by exploring a child’s first year through the relationships and experiences of our mini monsters. Our little heroes go to school at night, led by their lovely teacher Miss Grizzlesniff. The class learn lessons on how to be monsters, like counting the legs on spiders in math, how to howl at the moon in music, or making delicious Blushberry Blob Cakes in cookery. Their adventures teach life-lessons such as caring, sharing, friendship and fun, mirroring the social and emotional behavior and group dynamics of our audience, which is starting school.
ZDF Enterprises also takes care of worldwide merchandising rights (outside the UK and the US) and is seeking international agency partners and licensees. Following the broadcast deals in Italy with Rai and Dea Junior, ZDF Enterprises appointed Atlantyca Entertainment as exclusive Italian licensing agent for “School of Roars”.
As series one continues to rate amazingly well on CBeebies and has also launched successfully on a variety of international platforms and channels, the coproducers are developing series 2 and plan to produce a further 52 exciting and heartwarming stories about the little monsters for delivery in 2021.
Katharina Pietzsch, Director ZDFE.junior, ZDF Enterprises: “We are really happy about the phenomenal feedback and super positive reactions we have had from broadcasters and licensees for “School of Roars” all over the world. These super cute monsters are an absolute hit with preschoolers as their everyday school adventures resemble the day to day experiences of kids 3-6.”
Jo Killingley, Managing Director, Dot To Dot: “We’re delighted "School of Roars" is doing so well around the world. Going to school is universal, so I think everyone relates to our little monsters adventures. Alan Robinson has created a really unique design style and a distinctive colour palette which is also very appealing.”
