ZDF Enterprises’ premium short-film service ‘contunico’ to launch ‘Moments of History’ at MIPCOM

ZDF Enterprises’ new premium short-film service contunico already scores its first blockbuster hit at MIPCOM. Contunico will launch ‘Moments Of History’, 100 short-films of 3’-4’30“ convering the events that shaped the 20th century!
The innovative, unique media project ‘Moments of History ‘presents 100 visually stylish short films that incorporate historical archive material, recordings, original locations, re-enactments, CGI and the participation of witnesses to history. The fascinating collection of informative and entertaining clips can be used for mobile, Web and TV, and are produced by a team of specialists guided by ZDF history experts Guido Knopp and Stefan Brauburger. Highest standards of quality and historical accuracy and a concise evaluation of the events in question are guaranteed, while comments by up to five witnesses to history also ensure high authenticity.
Each film focuses on an event that is representative of larger historical contexts, such as the battle of Verdun in 1916, the inflation during the Weimar Republic, the day of Hitler’s seizure of power in 1933, the Pogrom Night of 1938, the end of WWII on 8 May 1945, the monetary reform of 1948, the ‘Return of the Ten Thousand’ in 1955, the construction and fall of the Wall and much more. It offers offers a bite-sized introduction to the main events of the 20th century, from WWI and WWII to the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, Chernobyl, 9/11...
This pilot project is the first building block of an extensive digital history project that will provide high-quality films in the form of clips for classical media as well as for mobile and digital applications. Each clip is supplemented by up to five thematically identical interviews with witnesses to history, thus comprising altogether 500 reports of about 1’30” each. Apart from conventional search options, new access routes will be created, including chance-generated ones.
