ZDF Enterprises takes over exclusive sales

ZDF Enterprises has taken over the exclusive sales of the National Geographic excerpt archive in the German-language territories. In the words of Fred Burcksen, head of Distribution and Investments of the Mainz company: "For decades now, the National Geographic brand has been known for successful, top-quality documentary productions that have been awarded over 100 Emmys to date. We are proud to have been able to reach this agreement with the National Geographic Film Library. It is an ideal complement to the ZDF Archive, with its nearly two million reports from 300,000 program hours from the past 40 years."

The National Geographic Archive comprises about 25,000 hours of film in the categories adventure, science, nature and society which were produced between the mid 1970s and today. There are 5,000 hours available online in a digital databank.

Thanks to the extensive collaboration that has been agreed upon, ZDF Enterprises can, as of today, exclusively offer its customers high-caliber programs from National Geographic for a variety of purposes such as TV, AV, DVD and online. National Geographic also profits from the renown and first-class service of ZDF Enterprises in the German-language territories. Broadcasters, producers, telecommunication firms, publishers, advertising agencies and other interested parties now have another attractive source of moving-picture excerpts for extensive and multi-purpose licensing.

Responsible for the global sale of archive material, including the National Geographic Archive, under is Thomas Sewing, who until recently was head of Entertainment in Marketing and Sales at ZDF.newmedia and has been sales manager of ZDF Archive at ZDF Enterprises since 1 February 2004.
