Mainz, 29th March 2010
Program distributor and coproducer ZDF Enterprises has announced the start of the international distribution of four new one- and two-part TV movies and miniseries of exceptional interest and outstanding production values.
Based on a thriller by bestselling author Ken Follett, "Whiteout" (2 x 90') spins the suspenseful tale of a deadly virus stolen from a lab by criminals whose escape is blocked by a blizzard. Produced by ZDF, ZDF Enterprises, Network Movie, Constantin Television, Palomar and RTI, Whiteout stars Heiner Lauterbach and Isabella Ferrari.
Two popular international stars head the cast of the two-part miniseries "The Secret of the Whales" (2 x 90'), Veronica Ferres ("The Woman from Checkpoint Charlie") and Christopher Lambert ("Highlander"). The drama about a woman who stumbles upon criminal dealings and an ecological disaster in New Zealand while investigating the death of her father is produced by teamWorx for ZDF.
"Hope" (2 x 90') tells the story of the first woman to brave the resistance of her male professors and peers and obtain a medical degree in Germany. She was also the first female doctor in Munich and an ardent advocate of hospital reform. Heike Makatsch ("Hilde," "Love Actually") plays the British-born doctor in this production by Hofmann & Voges.
The docu-drama "Dutschke" (1 x 90') explores the life of one of the leading figures in the "68 Generation" and paints a sweeping canvas of the 1960s and its social and political upheavals. Produced by teamWorx for ZDF, Dutschke stars Christoph Bach as the political firebrand.
