ZDF Enterprises highly satisfied with contracts signed at MIPCOM 2013

Cannes / Mainz, 10th October 2013

ZDF Enterprises is very satisfied with the contracts negotiated at the TV trade fair MIPCOM held from 7 to 10 October 2013 in Cannes.

The ZDFE.junior genre already had an announcement to make on the first day of the market: the sale of Krimi.de to the Finnish Free-on-Demand service YLE Areena of the Finnish broadcaster YLE. ZDF Enterprises has been overseeing KiKA, the children’s channel operated by ARD and ZDF, as a general agent since April 2012, and thus handles the distribution of all productions to which KiKA holds the rights. Significant deals with important U.S. partners were inked for further children’s and youth series, the details of which will be communicated shortly.

ZDFE.drama can also be proud of its achievements at MIPCOM, where it signed an impressive number or contracts, such as a agreement regarding the crime series “The Team,” which will be produced by Lumière from October 2013 and distributed worldwide by ZDF Enterprises. The market highlight in the drama sector, “Bron / Broen” (the original “The Bridge”) was sold to several territories, for example to SBS and SBS Video Australia, Globosat, AXN Spain, Edel, Czech TV as well as a US client. “The Killing III” was acquired by SBS and SBS Video, as well as American Video Films. Expect the Gillian Anderson thriller “The Fall” to be shown shortly on AXN Spain and Sky Deutschland. Italy’s RAI chose the crime series “Heldt” and “Die Chefin.”

With its sale of show formats to a U.S. production partner, ZDFE.entertainment scored a major win at this year’s MIPCOM.

In the documentary domain, ZDFE.factual has sold another large documentary package of 100 program hours to Servus TV and can report a renewed cooperation with the DAF – Deutsches Anlegerfernsehen – of 380 program hours plus 250 contunico clips. In addition, the existing multi-faceted programming and co-production deal between A&E Television Networks and ZDF Enterprises was renewed.
