ZDF Enterprises Coproduction "The Protectors" awarded International Emmy® for Best Drama Series
10 x 60' HDTV crime series to follow in footsteps of iEmmy® Award winning predecessors "The Eagle" and "Unit One"
Mainz, 26th November 2009
"The Protectors", a series about a young team of bodyguards in an elite-unit of Denmark's Police force, has just been awarded the International Emmy® for Best Drama Series. Executive producer Sven Clausen from Danish DR TV was in New York at the 37th International Emmy Awards to receive the prize. This is the third iEmmy® going to Sven Clausen and his team, after "The Eagle" and "Unit One".
Alexander Coridass, ZDF Enterprises' President and CEO, says: "We are obviously very pleased with the repeated international recognition of the work of our Danish partners. We are convinced that "The Protectors" will be able to follow in the footsteps of "The Eagle", which is distributed very successfully by ZDF Enterprises. The ZDF-Group is thrilled to return from this year's International Emmy Awards with 2 awards: one for "The Protectors" and the 2009 International Emmy® Directorate Award for Prof. Markus Schächter, Director General of German public-service broadcaster ZDF."
Peter Nadermann, ZDF Enterprises' Executive Director for Coproduction / Drama in the company's Cologne Office, adds: "It is a pleasure to work on such an outstanding production which reaches a large and especially younger audience with high quality."
"The Protectors" is produced by DR TV in co-production with ZDF Enterprises, ZDF and Peter Nadermann. ZDF Enterprises will also be exclusively handling the worldwide sales. At ZDF, the responsible commissioning editors are Klaus Bassiner and Wolfgang Feindt.
