ZDF Enterprises announces five series deal with UK’s WALTER PRESENTS

MIPCOM/Cannes, 6th October 2015.

WALTER PRESENTS, the UK’s new on demand foreign-language drama service has acquired five series totalling 44hrs of programming from international distributor ZDF Enterprises.

The deal spans programming from five different countries and two of the series will form part of WALTER PRESENTS launch programming in January. They include ten-part Belgian black comedy drama CLAN, which follows the exploits of four increasingly frustrated sisters, as they plot to kill their outrageously obnoxious brother-in-law and the ten-part controversial Swedish political thriller, BLUE EYES.

The deal also includes eight-part crime drama THE TEAM, which was produced by Network Movie for ZDF in association with Danmarks Radio (DR), Nordisk Film, Lunanime, Lumière, C-Films, Superfilm. The series follows a European investigation team, headed up by a Danish homicide detective (Lars Mikkelsen), working together as they attempt to solve a series of mysterious murders across Europe.

Six-part Polish crime thriller THE PACK will represent a first for UK TV when it premieres next year on Channel 4’s free to air channel, More4. Set in the beautiful Bieszczady Mountains it follows the exploits of a Border Patrol officer, who finds himself in the frame for the murder of his girlfriend and fellow guards.

The new foreign-language drama channel has also scooped up Swedish family saga, THICKER THAN WATER, with an option to buy the second series which is currently in production. Set in the enchanting Swedish archipelago, the series is centred round one family, riddled with feuds and secrets, who are reluctantly reunited in tragic circumstances.

WALTER PRESENTS is a brand new TV and online service showcasing the very best foreign-language drama series from around the globe. It’s being launched in UK through an exclusive partnership between Channel 4 and Global Series Network, founded and managed by Jason Thorp, Walter Iuzzolino and Jo McGrath. The two parties plan to rollout WALTER PRESENTS in a number of other TV markets.
