ZDF Enterprises acquires shares in Nadcon Film GmbH

Mainz, 28th January 2019

ZDF Enterprises has kicked off the new year by acquiring shares in Nadcon Film GmbH.

The company, which was founded in 2012 by Peter Nadermann and Constantin Film AG, specialises in co-producing first-class film and television projects mainly with international partners. Peter Nadermann shall remain the managing director of Nadcon Film GmbH even after the majority of the shares previously held by Constantin Film AG, are taken over by ZDF Enterprises GmbH.

Peter Nadermann began his career in 1985 as an editor for ZDF’s television programme ‘Das kleine Fernsehspiel’. From 1993 to 1999, he was a professor at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, during which time he founded the writing school and film school NRW. Since 1999, Peter Nadermann has produced and co-produced a variety of motion pictures, series and TV movies for ZDF Enterprises and Network Movie, including Henning Mankell’s Scandinavian crime shows ‘Beck’, ‘The Killing’ and ‘The Bridge’, as well as Stieg Larson’s ‘Millennium’ trilogy, not to mention the international series project ‘The Team’, which he produced himself.

In 2018, Nadcon Film presented two new TV series, including ‘Spring Tide’ and ‘Greyzone’. The second season of ‘Spring Tide’ and the Spanish blockbuster trilogy ‘Das Tal der toten Mädchen’ (‘Valley of the Dead Girls’) are set for release this year. Nadcon Film also co-produced Lone Scherfig’s latest film ‘The Kindness of Strangers’, starring Zoe Kazan, Andrea Riseborough and Tahar Rahim. The film will open this year’s Berlinale.

Peter Nadermann, Managing Director of Nadcon Film states: “I’m really looking forward to the renewed collaboration with ZDF Enterprises. Together, we’ve achieved many great things upon which I’d love to build. The modern world of media is an exciting challenge for producers, and we’re dying to implement our ideas and inspire audiences.”

Fred Burcksen, President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises, adds:  “We are pleased to be able to resume our successful collaboration while taking on a corporate structure. ZDF Enterprises and Peter Nadermann set the trend many years ago by being the first to invest in Scandinavian crime series and successfully distribute them around the globe. The result: the widely recognised international interest for ‘Nordic Noir’ remains as strong and steady as ever. We are confident that we will be able to come up with new ideas and create trends within this new cooperation.”
