ZDF crime series “BLOCHIN - The Living and the Dead” celebrates a spectacular world premiere at the BERLINALE

The serially narrated ZDF series “Blochin”, by author and director Matthias Glasner and globally distributed by ZDF Enterprises, celebrated its successful world premiere at this year’s Berlinale. Already on Tuesday, the pilot episode was shown for the first time as part of the Berlinale Specials. Yesterday, all five episodes of the first season were presented to a hand-picked, international professional audience within the framework of the “Berlinale goes Kiez” special event.
The thriller series starring Jürgen Vogel, Thomas Heinze, Maja Schöne, Jördis Triebel and many more, is a kaleidoscope of the city of Berlin and its people. The series tells the stories of the police men and women of the homicide division 7, their families, friends and enemies. A complex reality of everyday life complete with pitfalls and shoals, in which the underworld is inseparably linked to society’s elite and personal fates to national interest. In the midst is a man who cannot escape his past.

A 14-year old boy is shot dead in cold blood and wakes up in the morgue. Blochin (played by Jürgen Vogel), is the man with no first name who was once declared for dead and now works in the homicide division 7 in Berlin together with Dominik Stötzner (played by Thomas Heinze). Two characters who could not be more different and who are forced to more closeness than they would like. Before Blochin decided to join the police force, he was on the other side of the law. Now, he has to investigate his old friends from the East Berlin club and drug scene. But the case draws far larger circles, into the Bel Etage of Berlin politics. However, the case in only the beginning of a guilt and atonement drama that breaks down the borders of good and evil.
The first seasons traces an arc over 360 minutes in 5 episodes. A six hour long film novel with an open end.
