Two Years of G5 fiction
Uwe Kersken reports successful interim results
Mainz, 22nd March 2016
In spring 2014 Uwe Kersken and ZDF Enterprises set up the division G5 fiction to mutually develop, finance, produce and distribute high-quality, original series and TV Movies with German and international market potential.
On its second anniversary, G5 fiction has drawn up a highly positive interim review. The first project was the event film “Duel between two brothers" (The story of the Dassler brothers) commissioned by the Media Group RTL Deutschland and coproduced by Michael Souvignier (Zeitsprung Pictures) and Uwe Kersken/G5, which will be aired on Good Friday 2016 (director Oliver Dommenget, script Christian Schnalke).
On an international level the firm can also report positive developments that are reflected in coproduction contracts with partners such as Green Pavilion and the executive producers Michael Hirst, James Flynn and Morgan O’Sullivan (“The Tudors,” “Vikings”). The project “Ellis Island” (script Dario Poloni) is currently being financed with reputable German, Irish and American broadcasters. In addition, Michael Hirst has also written a lavish series about Alexander the Great for G5 fiction, ZDF Enterprises and Beta Film. Among the other projects currently in the pipeline are “Dona Gracia - The Woman Who Defied the Inquisition” (created by William J Macdonald and Uwe Kersken, written by Gavin Scott) with script and bible subsidized by the Film - und Medienstiftung NRW. A story about the French Foreign Legion is also being developed with France’s Newen Group.
In the past two years, G5 fiction has also united forces to develop and co-produce projects with leading German producers such as: Studio Hamburg Produktion Gruppe for the feature film “Romeo und Julia” (script Heiko Schier), the series “Cold War Cabaret” (script Gavin Scott) and “Brent Spar War” (script Johannes Betz); Zeitsprung Pictures for “Die Goldjungs” (treatment Christian Feyerabend / Uwe Kersken), Network Movie for “Berlin Gothic” (author Dorian Hess after an E-book by Jonas Winner); Ziegler Film for “KaDeWe” (authors Markus Hoffmann and Uwe Kossmann) and “Der Vampir” (script Heiko Schier).
