Successful ZDF family medical series “Dr. Klein” is set to continue
Mainz, 28th January 2015
"Dr. Klein" represents a new generation of family series on German television and in ZDF Enterprises’ program sales catalogue. Following great success with the viewers, ZDF has decided to continue the popular series. Therefore, a further 12 episodes of the humorous doctor’s series are set to be filmed by spring 2015, with ChrisTine Urspruch in the main role.
The first 12 episodes were watched by an average of 4.1 million viewers (15.7 percent market share) with a peak of 4.72 million viewers and a market share of 18.9 percent.
“Dr. Klein” has quickly become a darling of the TV audience. Standing only 1.32 metres tall, she is the only person in a big-city children’s hospital who truly meets her patients eye to eye. She doesn’t have it easy, with numerous challenges both in her professional and her private life. However, as a successful pediatrician, she has learned to prevail against discrimination. In any case, the employees at the “Rose Clinic” are quite a colourful crew. Therefore, it’s not surprising that her biggest rival is firmly convinced that the only reason why he did not get appointed to the position of chief senior physician, was because he is "healthy, normal and heterosexual". Hard times for Dr. Valerie Klein, whose full commitment is not limited to her young patients only.
Alexander Coridass, President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises, “The excellent family and hospital series "Dr. Klein", is a mix of big emotions and pointed humour which does not shy away from politically incorrect overtones. We are excited about this new series about a successful pediatrician, who takes the unconventional route and wins the day”.
The series is produced by Bavarian Fernsehproduktion, Munich. Registered B2B users can screen complete episodes of the series on Dr. Klein
