Stephan Adrian to leave ZDF Enterprises

Karoline Meichsner-Sertl becomes the new Chief Financial Officer

Mainz, 18th December 2018

At the end of 2018, Stephan Adrian will be stepping down from his many years of service as Chief Financial Officer of ZDF Enterprises GmbH and will be taking early retirement.

In 1988 lawyer Stephan Adrian joined the Department of Taxes, Insurances and Social Insurance at ZDF, which he headed from 1993 onwards. Since July 2007 he has been Chief Financial Officer at ZDF Enterprises and with responsibility for the departments of Finance, Legal Affairs, Human Resources, Corporate and Portfolio Strategy, Material Coordination and Dubbing, and, most recently, Digital Innovation. Together with Fred Burcksen, the President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises GmbH, he successfully lead the business.

ZDF Director General Thomas Bellut: 'With a cool head and a pointed pen, Stephan Adrian successfully managed the commercial aspects of corporate management. He has a large share in the sound economic record of ZDF Enterprises.'

Fred Burcksen honoured his departing co-managing director: ‘Stephan Adrian has assumed his duties with oustanding expertise and prudence, but also with a lot of empathy and the necessary pragmatism. We thank him for his services to the ZDF Enterprise Group over the more than 11 years and wish him all the best for the future.’

Karoline Meichsner-Sertl, until now the Vice President of Legal Affairs and Authorised Signatory, will be taking on the position of Chief Financial Officer at ZDF Enterprises GmbH from 1 January 2019. After completing her law studies, she first took on positions of responsibility from 1993 in the Rights, Acquisitions and Strategy departments at ARTE Deutschland, Degeto Film, EM.TV & Merchandising AG and Deutsche Welle before heading up the Legal Affairs department at ZDF Enterprises GmbH in March 2009.

‘With Karoline Meichsner-Sertl, we are delighted to have found an in-house replacement for this position of great responsibility. With her many years of experience in all legal matters within our sector, she is ideally qualified to both take on the co-management of ZDF Enterprises GmbH and to generate fresh impetus at the same time,’ said Fred Burcksen.
