Sales Rocket for Q POOTLE 5
London and Mainz, 2nd April 2014
ZDF Enterprises has secured a number of new international sales for the British Animation Award nominated pre-school series Q Pootle 5 (52 x 11’ | HD), produced in the UK by Snapper Productions.
Q Pootle 5, which is based on the best-selling books by children’s author and illustrator Nick Butterworth, has been picked up by VGTRK (Russian Public TV), YLE 2 (Finland), TG4 (Ireland), HOP!TV (Israel) and MTVA (Hungary). These sales follow earlier deals with KiKA (Germany) and ABC (Australia).
The series follows the adventures of the friendly little alien Q Pootle 5 and his friends, Oopsy, Eddi, Stella, Ray, Groobie, Bud-D and Planet Dave as they tackle the everyday problems of the final frontier.
Ben Butterworth, Snapper Productions, said: “Q Pootle 5 has captured the imaginations of children and parents with its loveable characters, creative storytelling and beautiful visuals and it’s fantastic to be able to share the series with an ever increasing international audience.”
Katharina Pietzsch, Director ZDFE.junior at ZDF Enterprises said: „Since the launch of Q Pootle 5 at MIPJunior last October, we have had a really phenomenal feedback from the international market. It’s great to see that people all around the world are as excited about Q Pootle 5 and his friends from Okidoki as we are. With our sales to date, we have already found some great homes for him. Currently, we are talking to further partners and will certainly see our lovely little aliens slowly but surely taking over more and more of planet earth.”
Q Pootle 5 launched on CBeebies in the UK in 2013 and has since celebrated an impressive viewer and licensee response. The show quickly became one of CBeebies’ highest rated programmes, reaching a total of almost 5.5 million viewers. The series performs strongly across all key demographics and particularly well among children aged 4-6. In addition, Rocket Licensing, which is managing the UK licensing campaign for the series, has already signed a number of licensees for the brand. They include Walker Books for global TV tie-in publishing, Blue Sky Designs for children’s stationery, Immediate Media for slots in CBeebies Weekly and Toybox magazines, Egmont for standalone magazines, Jumbo for games and puzzles, VMC for accessories and Rainbow Productions for character costumes.
Q Pootle 5 (52 x 11’ | HD) is produced by Snapper Productions and animated by BAFTA-award-winning studio Blue Zoo.
At MIPTV 2014, ZDF Enterprises’ MIPTV new stand no. is P-1.L 2 / P-1.M 1 (same location as prior before on Level 01, Palais des Festivals).
