KIDDINX and ZDF Enterprises ink two co-production deals for BIBI BLOCKSBERG during MIPTV
Berlin and Mainz, 12th April 2006
After last year’s deal for 26 episodes of the successful children’s animation series BIBI BLOCKSBERG, KIDDINX and ZDF Enterprises have just signed a new contract for the co-production of another 13 brand new cartoon adventures of the popular TV series during MIPTV in Cannes.
The animation series BIBI BLOCKSBERG has been running highly successfully on German ZDF and KI.KA for several years and its popularity increases steadily.
The extraordinary TV success of BIBI BLOCKSBERG convinced Germany’s Pubcaster ZDF to further invest in the future of the well established brand.
With its new TV format of soon 39 episodes KIDDINX especially focuses on enhancing the international career of the blond cheeky witch.
Also during MIPTV Cannes, KIDDINX and ZDF closed a co-production deal for the series “BIBI & TINA” (26 x 26'). The animation series is currently in development and will tell the story of two teenage girlfriends and their passion for horses.
**About Bibi Blocksberg:**
BIBI BLOCKSBERG success began 1980 when her first adventure written by author Elfie Donnelly as audio story took the hearts of Germany’s children by storm. More than 25 years later, BIBI BLOCKSBERG is one of the most successful character themes in Germany. The brand BIBI BLOCKSBERG consists of a long colourful list of merchandising articles such as one of the most popular girl magazines, a spectacular stage musical, various computer games, books, games, bed sheets, dishes and much more. Till this day her audio stories are found in the Top ten of the children audio charts in Germany.
Bibi Blocksberg TV animation series as well as her cinema feature films were awarded several times by important festivals, at last during CHICAGO Film festival 2005.
But who is BIBI BLOCKSBERG? At first glance, she seems to be a totally normal modern 13-year old girl with a cheerful and loveable personality who goes to school, has friends, wants a pet and experiences her first love. Bibi faces in her stories all the every day problems of a typical teenager. But there is one thing that makes all the differences in the world. Bibi is a witch! She inherited her magical abilities from her mother Barbara. And Bibi wouldn’t be Bibi if she didn’t use a little magic here and then to make things easier and to solve injustices. But this often causes the real world and mysterious world of witches to collide …
