Further award for ZDF Enterprises’ 3D documentary about famous extreme alpine climbers "The Huber Brothers"
Mainz, 24th July 2012
ZDF’s first 3D documentary “High Anxiety - Climbing in steep mountains with the Huber Brother" (15'), which is distributed worldwide by ZDF Enterprises, has received another honor: the First Prize as best documentary in the feature-film domain at the most important 3D festival in Europe, “Dimension 3” in Paris. The film had already taken home an award at the 3D Film Festival in Liège, Belgium, in 2011 and was nominated as best 3D feature film at the GwangJu 3D KIFF Festival in South Korea. The 3D doc also won a positive mention in the category “Contributo Tecnico” at the 60th Trento Film Festival in 2012.
In June 2011 the extreme climbers Alexander and Thomas Huber tackled an extremely steep route in the Tyrolean Alps: the “Karma” project was born and ZDF documented the preparations and realization of the project with the two Bavarian bothers as the main protagonists. The result was the first original ZDF production shot in native 3D. It was first shown on the Internet in 3D and aired on ZDF in 2D in October 2011. ZDF Enterprises is handling the international distribution of this extraordinary production. The 3D version can be seen after registration for ZDF Enterprises online screening under the following link:
The Huber Brothers have been regarded as superstars of the mountain-climbing scene for ten years now, and they still enjoy the tingle of excitement that they feel on the most extreme tours on the mountain walls of the Alps. The film shows the brothers ascending a mountain face that they have yet to scale without falls, and that could very well become the most difficult route in the Alps: the “Karma” route of the Loferer Alm.
“This route also stands for our relationship as brothers, for all the conflicts we had and which we resolved,” says Thomas Huber, the elder of the two. Months of preparation for the first mountain film in 3D with the two extreme climbers and the cameramen were necessary to shoot this ZDF project with SinaCam, Panasonic HPX 2100 and GoProHero 3D.
