Breath-taking images, content and sound: ZDF Enterprises takes on worldwide distribution of ‘Anthropocene - Human Force of Nature’

ZDF Enterprises takes over the world distribution of the elaborate three-part documentary series “Anthropocene - Human Force of Nature” (3x52') about the  influence of man on nature in the past, present and future. In fantastic images shot across all continents, the documentary will address global issues of humanity and explore opportunities for a better and sustainable world.

Friederike Haedecke and Georg Graffe are the editors for ZDF, while Jens Monath is director and co-author of the project together with Heike Schmidt.

Filming for “Anthropocene” started in October 2018. The result will be a production of the highest technical quality. A cinematic effect is to be expected due to the use of modern technology such as invasive cameras, drones and macro lenses as well as other more common technical equipment. The final product will be in Ultra High Definition HDR BT 2020 format.

The home of 7 billion people is in grave danger because humanity has disrupted the fragile balance of resources and cycles. This ground-breaking three-part series looks at scientific and social solutions to mankind's greatest challenges. It documents harrowing images of destruction: Large cities filled with smog, copper mines in Mexico's Atacama Desert and kilometre-long rubbish whirlpools in the Pacific.

Humans are the most influential lifeform that will be able to change the situation. It is no coincidence that this geological era is called the Anthropocene. This is where this must-see series comes in, demonstrating the innovative potential of human knowledge, experience and adaptability coupled with breath-taking images of our blue planet.

The floating solar fields off Singapore, the largest forest ever planted by humans i.e. the Great Green Wall of China with nearly a billion trees, or Sweden's highly efficient waste recycling are just a few hopeful examples of sustainable solutions offered by "Anthropocene". In stunning 4K images, quality usually seen in blockbusters such as "Star Trek" or "Transformers", the captivating beauty of the earth takes on a new dimension. Famous natural wonders such as the Grand Canyon, the Blue Mountains of Australia or the Danube Delta reveal sites that remained undiscovered and unseen until now.

Combined with global satellite imagery and documentary elements about human history, "Anthropocene - Human Force of Nature" is a mini scientific expedition. The trilogy answers questions such as: What connects an African farmer with China's largest solar system? What links a billiard ball in New York with the Great Pacific garbage patch? How does a solar panel collect energy? What do leading scientists and important figures think of the situation?

Crystal clear and fantastically illustrated, "Anthropocene - Human Force of Nature" provides scientific answers to the two most important questions of all time: How can this ominous spiral of destruction be stopped and how can we preserve the incomparably beautiful home of humanity for future generations?
