Atresmedia TV goes Alpine with “Mountain Medic” and “Alpine Rescue”
ZDF Enterprises’ drama highlights soon on Spanish screens

German pubcaster ZDF’s highly popular family series “Mountain Medic” and “Alpine Rescue“ will soon also enchant the audiences of Spanish audiovisual group Atresmedia TV.
ZDF Enterprises today confirmed that an agreement was closed with their long-standing partner Atresmedia TV for another 44 episodes and 2 specials of 90 minutes each of “Mountain Medic” and 36 episodes of “Alpine Rescue”. So far, Atresmedia TV had already acquired and successfully aired 6 seasons (76 episodes) plus three 90-minute specials of “Mountain Medic”.
The two series have been guarantors of high market shares for ZDF for many years and have their share in the fact that the broadcaster has been German market leader for the last 8 years in a row. Both series are produced by ndf.
“Mountain Medic” takes the viewers to an idyllic Austrian alpine town near the Kaiser mountains, where dramatic and emotional stories center around a mountain doctor. It was never the intention of Martin Gruber MD to leave New York and return to his home town in the Alps. Though the years have passed and nowadays he certainly cannot imagine a different way of life. And in the medical challenges he encounters every day, there is the same excitement, adventure, and ultimately fulfilment he looked for abroad. The series consist of 162 hours so far and achieves ratings on ZDF of 21.3%. 13 seasons are available and the 14th in preparation. “Mountain Medic” was nominated for the Banff World Media Festival’s Rockie Awards in 2019. The series has previously also been sold to Bulgaria (bTV Media Group and TV7 JSC), Denmark, Faroie Islands and Greenland (TV 2), Ghana, Kenia, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa (Mainstream Media), Canada and the USA (IMMS), Croatia (HRT Croatian Television and Nova TV), Poland (Mainstream Media and TVP (Telewizja Polska)), Slovakia (RTVS), Slovenia (POP TV and Pro Plus), Czech Republic (FTV Prima), Hungary (TV2 Media, MTVA, tv2.hu MTM-SBS zrt., CSOPORT and KFT), Latvia (Latvijas Televizija and Public Ltd. “Alpine Rescue” (63x90’), soon in its 12th season, achieves ratings of 15.9% in prime time. The series centers around a mountain rescue team, which responds to emergencies at dizzying heights in this exhilarating drama series. The series has previously also been sold to Bulgaria (bTV Media Group), Ghana, Kenia, Namibia, Nigeria, Poland, South Africa (Mainstream Media), Slovakia (RTVS), Slovenia (POP TV and Pro Plus), Iran (IRIB), Latvia (Public Ltd. Latvian Television) and Hungary (Sanoma Digital Media ZRT (Story TV)).
