From Dada to Gaga
It’s the early 1960s and a phantom roams through the art world. It’s a new art form that shocks and disturbs, that amuses some and is found intolerable by others: Performance art. In three episodes, "From Dada to Gaga" tells the story of this idiosyncratic art form: from its beginnings in Dadaism and Surrealism, to its further development in the U. S. under John Cage, its return to Germany with Joseph Beuys and its influence on video art and pop culture today.
