The wedding preparations for Maja’s big day are in full swing; Tamás has proposed and she has accepted, and she’s now looking forward to a new life at the Balaton-Residenz. Catrin has now moved in with Rudi in Erfurt, and sets off for Hungary with her parents to attend Maja’s wedding. The two sisters share an awkward reunion due to the distance that has grown between them; Kirsten has invited Erik to the wedding, and a chance encounter in the hotel lobby with her young love makes her nervous, and also curious. Tamás has hatched a foolhardy plan to help a little girl over the border to Austria on the night of the wedding, wreaking havoc on the whole family; finally, all of the masks fall at Lake Balaton. Rudi has to blow his cover as a Balaton Brigade agent in order to save Catrin, and Karl and Kirsten are forced to watch the summer of 1986 open old wounds. The cosy life that the Erfurt family once knew continues to fall apart in the idyllic scenery of Lake Balaton as the sisters face the most demanding challenge of their lives.
