Inspector Stubbe and his colleague want to see the year out peacefully and quietly. Then a murder occurs just before Christmas: Knut Hansen, proprietor of a Rent-a-Santa agency, is found shot to death. At first it is unclear who the intended victim was. The agency’s owner had stepped in for his employee Maik Koslowski at short notice. Koslowski is similar to his boss in size and stature and, of course, on the job Santas wear a cloak, hat and a long white beard. It’s perfectly possible, therefore, that the murderer had been out to get the man from the Ruhr Area and had shot Knut Hansen by mistake.
